Proposing

So you have an idea for a show? Great! We are eager to hear it. We take proposals at least once per semester for all kinds of shows. Play or art performance. Big or small. Fringe proposals take place every year in the middle of semester 2. Follow us on social media or join our mailing list to be the first to hear the news.

If you want to propose a show, you will need to have an idea of the performance you want to put on. Is it going to be a play or something else? Who is going to write or create it? Is it an existing play, something you are writing yourself, or something to devise together with the cast? Think about those questions, and get in touch if you want our input!

Then, think about other people who might be interested. Can you find a director, producer, stage manager, and tech manager? One of these can be yourself, but do you need other people. Also consider if you want to have assistants. This is both an opportunity for you to ease the burden, and for other people to contribute as well. Proposing a show is a lot of work, but the reward and fulfillment you get from creating something is definitely worth it. You can ask other Paradokians on the Paradok Members Facebook group. You can also get in touch with us if you need help!

We have two additional documents to help you: Our “putting on an online show”-checklist and a written guide on how to propose a show.

And remember, you can always get in touch with us by email or using social media. Just send us a message! We would love to talk about your idea.

We are currently accepting proposals for our GM on 2 October at 2pm. Check it out here. We are looking for both in-person, online and hybrid proposals!
